| NOTES
FOR VISITING YACHTSMEN The Royal Selangor Yacht Club welcomes visiting yachts. We hope you will enjoy your visit to Port Klang, and invite you to be guests of the Club for the period of your stay. May we remind you that RSYC is a private members Club, with rules and traditions developed over 30 years, and we ask you to respect these and comply with instructions issued by the Committee and Management of the Club. Arrival If you have given us prior notice of your arrival, a berth will already have been allocated, and a member of our boatyard staff will direct you to your mooring. The pontoons connected to the Clubhouse are for boats taking on fuel, water, stores and those undergoing repair which cannot be undertaken effectively elsewhere. Space is limited, and we request that you do not remain alongside for more than 2 hours. The rules are posted at the top of the gangway. After berthing, you will be directed to the Administration Office in the Clubhouse, which is open from 9.00am until 5.00pm daily. Registration The General Manager or his designated staff member will assist you to complete the Club Registration form and disclaimer, issue you with a copy of these notes, together with a guest card for each member of your crew, and answer questions you may have about the Club and the Port Klang area. Port Clearance Formalities Visiting boats are required to complete their inbound and outbound clearances on the day of your arrival. You will find a Port Arrival Health Notification form attached to these notes, which is to be completed and presented to the Marine Department (JABATAN LAUT) Block B Ground Floor, which is a few minutes walk from the Club (turn right outside the main gate). If you have not already cleared Immigration procedures in Malaysia you are required to do so at the Immigration Office, which is beyond the Marine Department (another 5 minutes walk), just past the KTM Railway Station. You must also clear Customs formalities at the same location. May we take this opportunity to remind visitors that unlawful possession of firearms and illegal drugs are capital offences in Malaysia. Visitors departing Malaysia when they sail from Port Klang are also required to clear themselves out with the relevant departments prior to their departure. In all cases boats are required to clear out with the Marine Department, even if they are proceeding to another port in Malaysia. Local Information A reference manual is maintained by the Club to assist visitors to locate their requirements in the Port Klang area. Copies are available in the Admin Office and behind the Bar for study. If you require any further assistance or information, the Club staff will be pleased to provide it. Club Facilities The Club offers a restaurant serving Oriental and Western food, and a full service bar. The restaurant is open daily for lunch from 12.00 - 14.45 (last orders), and dinner from 18.00 - 19.45 (last orders). The bar is open daily from 10.00 - 23.59 for the sale of hot and cold beverages. Sandwiches can also be provided when the restaurant is closed. There are extensions to the service hours on weekends and public holidays. Visitors are requested to pay for their food and beverages in local Malaysian currency at the bar at the time of purchase. VISA and MASTERCARD are also accepted for these and other sundry purchases in the Club. Receipts will be issued. There is a swimming pool and children's paddling pool, together with showers, toilets and changing rooms adjacent. There is also a small gym with exercise apparatus. Children under 12 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times in these facilities. Chandlery, engineering and hull repairs can be arranged through the Yard Manager's Office, and a 20 ton slipway cradle is operated for Members boats by prior arrangement. If emergency hull work is required, the Yard Manager will assist in arranging slipping either at the Club or at nearby commercial or government facilities. Diesel fuel is available for cash purchase at the Club pontoon upon request to the yard staff. Petrol and lubricants may be purchased from numerous road service stations in Port Klang. Water is available from hoses at the pontoon. It is requested that water is not wasted, and taps secured after use. A complimentary water taxi (JINGO) service is operated by the yard staff between the Club pontoon and offshore berths. The schedule is displayed near the gangway. Security The Club premises are guarded round the clock by Club security staff, who also visit the pontoons and mooring areas at night. However, visitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to secure their boats and possessions at all times. The Club will accept no responsibility for loss or damage to private property on Club premises or moorings. Visitors unfamiliar with Port Klang are warned that strong currents flow in the river, especially during spring tides, bringing with them much unwanted flotsam. Dress Code Dress is informal-going-casual within the Club premises. However, visitors are requested not to enter the Clubhouse in wet or dirty clothing, and to wear shoes and shirts in the bar and restaurant. Bathers are requested to wear bathing costumes and shower before entering the pool. Malaysians do not appreciate displays of public nudity, and their customs should be respected by visitors. Fees Payable by Visitors The Committee is pleased to offer visitors guest status during their stay, and offer them the facilities of the Club. As RSYC is a self-financing private Club, a nominal charge of RM10.00 per day is levied for visiting boats using Club moorings, and a charge of RM5.00 per crew member (excluding children under 12 yrs) per day using Club facilities. If exact timing and crew composition is known, these charges may be paid at the Admin Office after the arrival formalities have been completed. If length of stay is less certain, it is requested that the appropriate charges for the actual length of stay and pro rata crew (if variable) be settled prior to departure, in local currency or by credit card. The Committee wishes you a pleasant stay, and the Club management is happy to be of service and assistance. Please do not abuse the privileges you enjoy at the Royal Selangor Yacht Club. |
